Broeltoren Noord

These remnants of the old city fortifications, which epitomise Kortrijk, were built by the Burgundian dukes to protect the city. Notice the arrow and cannon embra- sures, as well as the corbels all around with holes from  which the enemies were attacked. On the Broel Bridge stands Nepomucenus, the patron saint of sailors and the  drowned.
